When planning the funeral for a loved one, one of the most important aspects is that of the burial. Luckily, there are many methods available for families to choose from when it comes to burial. If you and your family are interested in a green, and environmentally friendly burial, that is an option. If you would like a burial that is at the graveside of your loved one’s resting place, that is fine as well. But one form of burial that has been steadily growing in popularity over the years is cremation. Everyone knows what cremation is, and there is a chance that you may even know someone who has been cremated, but there is much more to it than what’s on the surface. If you and your family are interested in learning more about cremation and everything that it entails, you can speak with cremation services in Gainesville, GA. They would love to help you with any questions you may have.

What Is Cremation?

Cremation is the process of placing the body of someone who has died in a cremation chamber until they are turned into ash. Cremation chambers can reach temperatures of nearly 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, and they can only be used by people who are trained to operate them. Once the cremation process has taken place, you and your family will be given the ashes of your loved one. At this point, you can choose what you want to do with them.

What Types of Cremations Exist?

·  Traditional – When it comes to traditional cremation, you and your family will need to plan for it as you would a traditional funeral. You will have a wake, there will be guests at the actual funeral, and then when the funeral ends, your loved one will be taken to be cremated. If you want, you and your family can have a repass.

·  Memorial – If you and your family would like to plan a celebration for the life of your loved one, you can do so by having a memorial cremation. While your loved one may be cremated already, this celebration doesn’t have to happen right away. It can happen a week or even months after your loved one has passed. If that sounds like something you and your family would be more interested in, it is an option that is available to you.

·  Direct – Direct cremation is the quickest and most affordable of the cremation options. Your loved one will be cremated soon after they pass away, and then the ashes will be returned to you. Since there isn’t much more you have to do, the price will not be nearly as high as the other two options.

What About the Ashes?

·  Urns – When your loved one is returned to you, you will have to option to purchase an urn. You will find that there are urns in different shapes, materials, purposes, and colors. You can’t go wrong with an urn.

·  Ash Spreading – This is the process of spreading your loved one’s ashes somewhere symbolic. Many families will choose to do this as well. It’s important to remember that you will need to make sure that you can legally spread this in the location that you’ve chosen.
