Shelby Jean Murphy

Shelby Jean Murphy, age 65, of Ellijay, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at her daughter’s residence.

Shelby was born on June 26, 1958, in Hall County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Henry Grady Jones, Sr. and the late Grace Lee Jones. She was described as “something else” by her family. She left quite a testimony and has said many times "When you think of me smile, and let the good memories wash away the grief." She spent her life making a home for her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Murphy.

She is survived by her daughters, Jill Hyde (Jerry), Kelly Pendley, and Whitney Murphy; her grandchildren, Austin Hyde, Tiffany Holt, Kristen Hyde, Haven Rowell, and Colton Farris; her great grandchildren, Layton Pierce, and Baby C; her sisters, Linda Pirkle (J.C.), Connie Kinsey, Teresa Jones, and Beverly Smidt (Kevin); her brother, Henry Jones, Jr.; her sister in law Camilla Murphy London and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Flynn officiating.
