Joseph Ronald Smith

Joseph Ronald Smith, 76 of Ellijay, GA, was born June 16,1947 and passed away peacefully at his home on August 12, 2023.

He was proceeded in death by parents, Martha Estelle Hayes and L. Curtis Smith; his brothers, Gene, Jack, L.C. and Steve; Sisters Sara Haygood and Barbara "Babs" Smith

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Christine Hanagriff Smith whom he married September 15, 1973; daughter, Stacia Smith; sons, Stephen Smith (Wesley Crissman) and Mark Smith (Christy Smith); Grandchildren, Sabrina Farabee, Lauren Smith, Christian Jackson, Madison Jackson and Maxwell New; sisters, Carolyn Harris  and Martha Lovins. 

Joe grew up in Barrow County, GA and graduated from Winder Barrow High School.  After graduation, he worked many years in sales and retired from PED Associates. He and Chris raised their family and lived in Lilburn GA, until retirement to their dream home on the river in Ellijay GA. Joe would talk to anyone, never met a stranger and deeply enjoyed the time spent with his family and close friends.

 A Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at Good Samaritan Catholic Church

55 Church Street

Ellijay, GA 30540 

with Fr. Bradley Starr as celebrant.

Visitation with the family will immediately follow mass with light lunch in the church hall. 

Joe will rest eternally in peace in the St John Neumann Catholic Church Columbarium and Memorial Garden,
